A Daytrip to Apple Hill, CA

Red-dy for the holidays!

If the impending festivities and the beautiful fall leaf-globe I happen to be twirling in are reasons 1 and 2 for my excitement, then the third would be that the color of the holidays also happens to be the IT color of the entire season's fashion. Red is heating up cold weather fashion like all of us have always wanted it to, with everything from red knits to boots to vinyl outerwear being the coolest pieces of the moment! I picked out this cozy red turtleneck cape sweater from my favorite boutique and it's a gift that keeps on giving, you guys. If wearing it as is gets too basic, layer it over a striped turtleneck for a casual holiday get together or throw it on over your favorite sweater dress and cinch it with a belt for a chic dinner date!

We snapped these photos a few weekends ago when we drove out to Apple Hill- a NorCal fall wonderland if there ever was one! It all started with Kushal's one birthday request in November was for us to find some solid, east coast style, fall donuts. When we lived in the Northeast, driving out to the nearest cider mill for apple cider/maple pecan donuts and steaming fresh cider was our seasonal fall highlight. For a household typically devoid of sugars, we would go all out that one weekend. This year, the annual craving came around per usual, so we booked it to where the interweb told us are all the best fall things in Cali!

In hindsight, I would stay a night in Apple Hill in the future, because there's more fall colored valleys and orchards stocked with baked treats to be explored than can be fit into a daytrip. We had just enough time to grab some donuts and cider at Rainbow Orchards (supposedly the best of them all!) and frolic in this beautiful leaves-laden forest we stumbled upon before we were out of daylight. It was a beautiful taste of what I can only imagine would be a great weekend escape for upcoming fall seasons... Bay Area peeps, hear hear! :)

Thank you for reading and happy hump day!
