Black-and-White Chic

Moving on from a manic Monday to a trying Tuesday per usual, but it's all good when the days are leading upto a long weekend, no? Especially so when it involves a respite from this solo-wife-life that, try as I might, won't equal the unparalleled joy that only yammering into K's ear 24 x 7 brings. So I'm off to do just that on Labor Day weekend (albeit with some other friends to partake in the festivities!) to the mountain states to close out the summer at Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. As always, I'll be sharing live tidbits on my Instagram, so come along for the ride. :)

Even as I start to pack my layers for that unpredictable mountain weather, this look right here is more my speed for layers in the city on a beautiful summer day.  I shared a little while back my latest treasure trove discovery- Miss Tallulah Boutique- from where this tasseled blazer and eyelet-paneled shorts made their way to me, much to my delight. I made a pairing of them with the most comfy off-the-shoulder tee and a recent stroke of thrifter's luck - lace-up printed espadrille wedges that could pass off as a buy from any trendy store right now. :)

I'm wearing a knot headband that seems like the slightest addition to the outfit, but in fact, it is a very big deal. It's from Headbands of Hope, a company started by Jessica Ekstrom after finding that simply putting on a headband (or buff) brought hope and joy to every child that had undergone hair loss following chemotherapy for cancer. For every headband bought, one is donated to a child with cancer.. Look at this child's face after just having been given one and I promise you're about to laugh-cry like I have been! :) If you're interested in the cause, make sure to browse the fun headband collection to make your donation, or check out the website to contribute in other ways.
