Color Crush: Bordeaux & Grey

Bordeaux & Grey 1

Mother Nature is smiling in satisfaction right about now, you guys, because this snow storm has shut Buffalo down. I made my way home from D.C. via a very circuitous route late last night after countless flight cancellations, and feel quite fortunate to finally be at home with Kushal in this unfortunate situation. Ohh, the irony of it. But I do leave to India in two days, so there's that to look forward to!

For those familiar with my pre-D.C. stress, I must let you know that my presentation went very well and that I may be ten pounds heavier from all that ridiculously good food I ate! Seriously, you guys, that city is a gastronomic melting pot like none other I've been to.. I've had a foodie's trip around the world in seven days!

So since it's pretty much impossible to shoot outfits with snovember's dangerously beautiful backdrops, please bear with me as I dig out some early fall outfits from my folders, out of necessity as well as for yours' and my sanity. Because I'm sure you've seen enough of our depressing snow on the news by now (and if any of you said 'Oooh, that snow is so pretty!', I will hunt you down and kill you.)! Moving on (or back!) to brighter days when fashionable outfit choices existed, I've been crushing all through fall on the color combination of bordeaux and grey. Bordeaux or oxblood or wine red or burgundy or maroon has been, is, and always will be a staple on the fall/winter color palette and is a personal favorite of mine. As instinctive as it is to pair it with a lighter color, I love the warmth of a deep grey paired with the rich garnet hue.

Pops of gold, leopard print and faux-fur for some added elements of interest. This grey sweater is one of my favorite pieces in my closet.. the pleats and the balloon sleeves are the perfect details to make a simple sweater feminine and whimsical. If you've been reading my blog, you'll know of my love for texture play! The soft knit sweater with the edgy faux-leather pants is the perfect mix of two very different vibes.
