Happy hump day, my friends! Popping in with a quick hello in the middle of a busy week to share a simple and chic look that I wore on Memorial Day! Since Kushal and I rarely even get weekends entirely off (Woo, PhD life. :|), we were determined to do something to celebrate the national holiday AND the glorious 75 deg weather, so we got out of our labs early, dressed up and went over to the local carnival by the harbour. Ice cream, lemonade, giddily happy kids running all over the place and a very sun-deprived city out in full force to celebrate the first event of the season.. what's not to love, right?!
I wore this simple outfit made up of pieces that, individually and together, scream summer to me. A feminine white lace dress is pretty much a warm weather staple in my books, and a fun denim jacket is as versatile a piece as any girl needs in the summer!
Point Penny-wise: Y'all know my penchant for adding thrifted pieces into my carefully budgeted wardrobe, and denim jackets are one of my favorite things to look for when thrift shopping. Like all good things (and by that, I mean wine, of course. ;)), good denim gets better with age, and I've seen more perfectly weathered denim jackets than I'd ever need at most thrift stores! Good denim jackets are also quite expensive, so it doesn't hurt that you'd be getting more bang for lesser buck. :)
You've heard me wax poetic (in this post) on the topic of the Little White Dress before, but an elegant lace LWD is really what we were talking about, weren't we? ;) It's just so quintessentially summer, bringing picnics in the sunshine and long al fresco brunch dates to mind. This Adrianna Papell sheath dress is so much more gorgeous in person.. It has the prettiest lace paneling in a petite-friendly A-line silhouette. #winning
Thank you for reading, and I'll see you on Friday!
XO Sushmitha :)
